With rising inflation and economic disparities becoming more prevalent, We recognized this alarming trend and decided to create a garden that could provide vegetables to the community and to assist us in preparing hot and healthy meals for our Tuesday food program, which provides not only food but also an extended family social interaction hub.
It is our future vision to facilitate an allotment type garden where neighbors can rent (at a nominal cost), maintain and harvest their own garden plots. We also hope to create a children’s exploration garden and safe play space.
These our our nutritional associates who support our vision to bring about food equity and help erase food insecurity for economically disadvantaged and disenfranchised families in San Antonio.
Many years ago, the Knights of Peter Claver began a program to feed those needing a hot meal. Since that time our program has grown to feeding over 60 participants. It is our goal to use our produce to supply fresh vegetable sides with the meals we serve every Tuesday.
