Our world has grown harder, and too often the spirit of care and community feels like a thing of the past. For many in marginalized communities ~ especially people of color ~ survival now calls us back to the wisdom of our ancestors: using the land, building together and creating our own pathways forward.
That's where the "Chop Shop" comes in. This is not just talk-it's a movement. Every other week we'll chop it up about: Recipes and Cooking Demos...preparing fresh vegetables we grow. We also share gardening how-tos, tips on starting and sustaining your own garden. We'll also have the skinny on where and how to get additional food assistance. And we'll be conversing about food justice....calling out inequities in stores that underserve the east side of San Antonio. We also will be brining in voices that matter - from master gardeners and country farmers to community activist, neighborhood leaders and even political figures - all sharing wisdom, stories and strategies for survival
This is a space built for the hood, by the hood, with care for every community member. Because when we grow together, we survive together.
